Valentine's Day 2022

Usually every year, I dread Valentine's Day. The chocolates, teddy bears, the flowers, the Instagram stories or posts from the girlfriend or boyfriend showing off their love for one another on Valentine's Day, you know all the mushy lovey-dovey festivities that go along with the year of showcasing your love for someone. The reason why I used to feel that way is that I didn't have a significant other to do those activities with. And don't get me started on during those days in high school, girls would walk around with gift bags, flowers, and the big teddy bears. Sure I could've bought it for myself, but I thought it would be better to be gifted with it instead of forcing myself to buy it in order to feel something.

Read all of that again... I used to feel that way. What's so different about this Valentine's Day is that I decided to basically have a 'me' day. You know the usual self-care: face mask, skincare, journaling moment. I was even then able to reflect on why Valentine's Day is so special to me.

Sure for married and dating couples, they're probably going out and spoiling one another, in which by all means they have every right to. No hate to them whatsoever. But what I happen to find so special about Valentine's Day this year for me, is that this year, with no significant other attached, and quite honestly every day, I realized that I am loved. Loved endlessly by our Heavenly Father.

To everyone reading this, doesn't matter if you're single or taken, we need to realize that we're already valuable in His eyes. Even though I don't have a Valentine this year, (to be specific, I've never had one as of yet) I'm still worthy and qualified in His eyes. What's crazy is that He loves us so much, He sent His one and only son, Jesus to die on the cross for us. Crazy right?! And who knows, maybe next year I'll be blessed with one. With patience of course...

Whether you're single, in a relationship, engaged, or even married, I want you to know how loved you already are... He loved you FIRST. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. I hope you have a wonderful, lovely, full-filled, and blessed Valentine's Day.

With love,

Hannah
